Square Enix trademarks HD-2D in Europe, FuRyu trademarks Heroland in the U.S. and Europe
More Octopath Traveler-style games incoming?
“HD-2D” is the term used by Square Enix to describe the graphical aesthetic of its July 2018-released Octopath Traveler. With the term being trademarked, it is possible that the company plans to use “HD-2D” as a descriptor for future titles, Octopath Traveler or otherwise.
“Heroland” might be the localized title for FuRyu’s Netchubiyori-developed comedy RPG Work x Work, which is set in a theme park called “Hero-sama Land” in Japanese. The game launched for Switch in October 2018 in Japan, and is due out for PlayStation 4 on February 28.
